Featured Cake

I got an email from my friend Chris at Mason's Bakery today. One of his cakes is being featured in Gulf Shore Life and they are going to use the photographs that I took of his creation. I have to say, it was a pretty creative grooms cake! It's the fun fish cake that I've included. I've also added a picture of another one of his beautiful cakes. Leave it to Chris to come up with the most unique ideas!

2009 rocks.

I was just looking over my schedule for the next few weeks. I am really excited about 2009, I have so many really great wedding's just around the corner and I have recently had the opportunity to meet with a bunch of really fun couples planning for later in the year. I have to say my "I can't wait till that wedding" list keeps getting longer!

I've included a few pix from Ashley and Tyler's engagement sitting. We took these a few months ago, but with their big day only 2 weeks away and wedding pix soon to follow, I thought it would be fun to give everyone a peak at this fun couple.

Be sure and check back to see the wedding pictures! They have a great day planned for Casa Ybel... great location, awesome couple... I'm sure we'll get lots of terrific shots!

the before pix

I occasionally have a client who will tell me they don't want to have pictures of themselves "getting ready", so they suggest that we don't do pictures before the ceremony. As I always say, I am super flexible and I will do whatever my client wants BUT, I always have suggestions!

The before ceremony pictures of the girls getting ready is a nice way to begin the documentation of the day, but there is so much more to the before pictures than just getting into dresses. This is the point where I am going to capture many of the details: the dress hanging, shoes, jewelry etc. I am also using this time to capture candid moments of family and friends as well as the bride. Lastly, I find this is really the best time to create portraits of the bride alone. Hair and make-up are perfect, there aren't as many people around us, it's by far the best time to capture those elegant images.

I have to admit, I love shooting the before pictures. There is so much emotion and always so many fun moments. I love being the fly on the wall and just waiting for beautiful moments to present themselves. I'm smiling just thinking about it!

Here are Jennifer's pre-pix. We photographed her wedding in November. There were a ton of great shots throughout the day, but here are just a few of the moments from before the ceremony:
